There are 18 bees. If 15 bees are in the hive and the rest are not. How many bees are not in the hive?

Kōrero Time: I thought you might like to watch this video of jokes and then tell the jokes to your family and friends. Have fun Room 5!

Shared Books:

Book 1: Monkey and Me- a story about a girl and her monkey who go on an adventure together.

After you have listened to the story answer these questions:

1. What animal did they see first?

2. How many elephants did they see?

3. What was the last animal that they saw?

4. What did they do at the end of the story?

Book 2: Chick's Sick- a story about a chick who can't lay an egg and the other farm animals try to help her.

Writing: I would like you to pick one of the read aloud stories to write about and write 2 ideas about the story that you liked. (book 1 or book 2)

My example (book 1-Monkey and Me

I liked the story about the monkey and the girl. It was fun to see all the different animals that they visited. My favourite animals were the penguins and bats.

Remember to use:
  • capital letters
  • finger spaces
  • sound out tricky words
  • full stops
  • 2-3 ideas

Reading:
Please watch the following videos of basic words. Remember to say the words out loud and you could try to write some of the words as well.

Phonics: Here is a video about blends. Listen and sing along to help you learn blends.

Here is our blend card we had been learning/using in class.

Can you say all of the blends on the card?  First say the picture and then the blend like blue bl.

e.g. blue bl, bread br, chair ch, crab cr, drum dr etc

 Arts and Crafts:
Here are a few videos on drawing a monkey and monkey craft ideas. If you don't have everything at home it is okay to just use what you have. I hope you give it a go.

Remember you don't have to do everything on this blog post.  Most importantly try and make it fun and work for your family.

If you would like to share your work please email me some photos to (nmitchell@owairaka.school.nz) and I will share it on our class blog.

Happy home learning Room 5!
Ms Mitchell
