Word Pattern of the week:

We have been learning lots of different word patterns.
This week we are working on changing the middle letter (vowel sounds) of the word patterns.
Here is a good video to check that you are saying all of the vowel sounds correctly.

Vowels Song

Middle Game Sound Swap: Here is a great video with a game you could make and play with your family.

Can you change words by taking away the middle letter and putting another middle letter in its place?
e.g. cat-cut-cot

Kōrero Time: I know we like to tell jokes in Room 5. I thought you might like this
video with some jokes for you to learn and you can tell them to your family.

Shared Books: Here are two shared books that I thought you would like to read.
Book 1- The Box: This book is a fun story about using your imagination.

Book 2-Pete's a Pizza: This story is a fun imaginative story about a boy called
Pete.

Please watch the following videos of basic words. Remember to say the words out loud and you could try to write some of the words as well.

Have you been on any walks or bike rides?
Have you been baking?
Have you had any Facetime chats with your friends or family?
Have you played games with your family?

Remember to use:
-capital letter
-full stop
-finger spaces
-sound out words
-use the word because

Handwriting:
This week we have been working on the letters Rr and Nn. Did you remember to sit the letters on the line?  Here are two videos to help you with your handwriting.

Craft Activity: With Boxes (extra activity if you have boxes at your house)
Watch the videos and pick one of the ideas for you to make with your family.  You will have to get an adult to help you with some of the cutting.  Be creative if you don't have all the items just make do with what you have. You might take one of the ideas and change it to what you want to make. Give it a go and be creative. I would love a photo of your box art.

Remember you don't have to do everything on this blog post.  Most importantly try and make it fun and work for your family.

If you would like to share your work please email me some photos to (nmitchell@owairaka.school.nz) and I will share it on our class blog.

Happy home learning Room 5!
Ms Mitchell
