Question One:

Maths: Fractions
We have been learning about halves and quarters. Here is a video to help you with fractions.


Maths Photo Challenge: 

Your challenge is to find something that you can divide (split) into halves or quarters. 

e.g. a group of toys or pegs, a piece of toast, an apple, your Lego.

Then take a photo and email it to me with your parents help (nmitchell@owairaka.school.nz) include a sentence about what you used and how you divided it (halves or quarters).

I will pop it up on the blog so the class can see. Take a photo and send it to me!

Word Pattern of the week:

We have been learning lots of different word patterns.  This week we are working on changing the middle letter (vowel sounds) of the word patterns. Here is a good video to check that you are saying all of the vowel sounds correctly.

Middle Game Sound Swap: 
Here is a great video with a game you could make and play with your family.

Can you change words by taking away the middle letter and putting another middle letter in its place?  e.g. cat-cut-cot

  
Shared Books: Here is a shared book that I thought you would like to read. 
The Box: This book is a fun story about using your imagination.

Reading:
Please watch the following videos of basic words. Remember to say the words out loud and you could try to write some of the words as well.




Extra for Experts:



Writing: I want to know what you have been up to in the weekend. Write a story about what you have been doing?
Some ideas:
What have you been doing in your bubble?
Have you been on any walks or bike rides?
Have you been baking?
Have you had any Facetime chats with your friends or family?
Have you played games with your family?

Remember to use:
-capital letter
-full stop
-finger spaces
-sound out words
-use the word because

Handwriting:
This week we are working on the letters Rr and Nn. Did you remember to sit the letters on the line?  Here are two videos to help you with your handwriting.



Tongan Language Week: Here is a great video to help you learn to speak in Tongan.
Have fun learning these with your family.

Tongan Art ideas
You could try some Tongan art. 
Make your own by dying paper brown with a warm wet tea bag. When dry, draw or paint these patterns on (or your own design).

  1. Morena R 5, you have such a lot of great things to do for Tongan Language week. I wonder if you are going to try to make a tapa, I think you could have fun with the repeating patterns and deciding on your own colours. I really like the vowel sound video, I hope you get to watch it.
