Matariki

This week we have been learning about 'Matariki' this year it falls in July (in the school holidays) so we thought we would learn about Matariki before we went on holiday.

We have read a cool big book called 'Matariki Breakfast'

We know lots of facts about Matariki:

• It is a time for learning about the land and how to look after it
• It is a time for sharing family stories
• It is a time to fish and gather kaimoana
• It is a time for making things, to learn how to weave and carve
• It is a time for making and flying kites
• It is time for planting trees and winter crops
