Ambury Farm Trip

Room 5 went to Ambury Farm to learn about farm animals.

We went on the bus to get to the farm. We arrived at Ambury Farm and meet the educators (Meredith and Caroline) who explained the rules for the day.

Then we had some morning tea.

After we finished eating we walked to the milking shed to see Maggie the cow being milked.

Maggie was very good and ate while she was being milked. She even let us stroke her side.
We got to touch the pipe where the milk was being pumped through and it was warm.  Then it went into this tray.

Next we went to the shearing shed and watched some sheep being sheared.

It is important to shear sheep so that they stay healthy.

We even got to touch some of the wool! It was soft and fluffy.

Meredith talked to us about keeping safe around the farm animals and how to feed them. Then we had a guided walk around the farm.

The pigs let us pat them. They were very friendly.

We also got to touch two Kunekune pigs. They really enjoyed getting scratches on their backs.

We loved the goats! They were happy to see us because we had food for them.  We remembered to keep our hand flat when the goats ate the food.

Look at this enormous turkey!

We went into the paddock with all of the chickens. They were scratching on the ground for food and we got to feed them as well.

The chickens came right up to us and pecked the food out of our hands!

We meet the two Clydesdale horses! They were very tall and had beautiful manes.

Ambury Farm had five lambs today (more lambs will be born in a few weeks time).  We got to pat the lambs and see them being feed.

What a wonderful day we had learning about farm animals!
A big thank you to all the parents who came along on the trip.

PMP

This week at PMP  we had four different activities set up to do.

Activity One: We had to gently hit the ball with a baton and try to stay in the hoop.

Activity Two: We had to do a pencil roll, climb on the ladder, crawl through the shapes and balance on the beam.

Activity Three: We had to pick up the bean bag, jump into the hoop, then drop the bean bag in our hand and pick up the next one. We got to go on the see-saw as well and it was tricky to balance with a buddy.

Activity Four: We got to throw bean bags into the hoop it was important to aim carefully. It was fun to balance on the trolley and move around the cones.

Kā pai Room 5. You had fantastic listening skills today! I loved your good manners with our adult helpers too!
