Samoan Language Week

This week it is Samoan Language Week!

We are going to be learning some common words and phrases, numbers and colours in Samoan.

Savalivali

Paper Rockets

Room 5 had lots of fun on Friday working together to make paper rockets.

We made the body of the rocket by rolling a piece of thick paper and it was good to have a buddy to help with this. Then we made the fins of the rocket by folding and cutting a piece of paper into a triangle and making two cuts at the bottom of the rocket to slide the fins into. Next we folded the nose of the rocket and glued the pieces together. Finally we cut out a window and a door.

Wonderful teamwork  Room 5. We are going to put the rockets up for display over the next few days.

Whole School Assembly

We enjoyed the whole school assembly today. Tuatahi ran the assembly and we all enjoyed the 'Space' theme.

Rimu Assembly

We went to the hall for a Rimu assembly.  It was great to sing a few song together and then certificates were given out.

We are always thinking about using good manners and being kind to others. Our school values are an important part of our learning.

Stardome Trip

Room 5 had a fantastic time at the Stardome!

We got onto the bus with Room 4 and had a fun ride singing along the way.

Then we arrived at Stardome and were greeted by Josh (a teacher at the Stardome) who took us to the Stardome classroom.

Next we got to go out to the auditorium with an ipad to find answers to questions about space. We also found this astronaut.

After that we got to go into the theatre to watch a movie about space and it was projected onto the ceiling!

The movie was all about space and how we get day and night, the seasons and the earth orbiting the sun.

At the end we went outside and waited for the bus.

Room 5 also loved the bus ride back to school.

A big thank you to our adult helpers Toki and Lavinia. A fun day out was had by all.
