Climbing Trees at Owairaka!

Today was the first day that children are allowed to climb trees at Owairaka School!

There are two special climbing trees for Juniors (Rimu Team).

These two trees have a green circle on them which means we are allowed to climb them and they have red lines on them which means you can only climb to the red line.

Room 5 went out to the trees this morning to have a go at climbing them. It was very exciting and we had a fantastic time climbing.

Discovery Time

Today Room 5 had Discovery Time!  We worked on using our school values while we played.

Welcome back to Term 3.

Room 5 are looking forward to our trip to the Auckland Zoo next week. We will be going to the... 'Bug Lab' exhibition and then going for a walk around the Zoo to see some of our favourite animals.

Popcorn Fun

Today we had fun making popcorn. 

Our writing goal was to use describing words in our writing.



We wrote lots of words to help us to describe the popcorn:

• pop
• bang
• fluffy
• yummy
• tasty
• warm
• sweet
• delicious

We had fun watching the corn pop!

The pop corn maker made lots of noise as the corn popped!


The popcorn tasted yummy.



We enjoyed eating the popcorn.



We wrote great stories too.



We drew wonderful pictures of the pop corn maker and us eating the popcorn.

Sorting 2D Shapes

We have been learning to sort 2D shapes by what they look like e.g.

• sides

Today we had fun sorting shapes into groups with a buddy.
