Today we had buddy reading with Room 24! A great day for reading under the pohutukawa tree.

Busy Week!

We have had a busy week in Room 5.

We had a great Duffy Assembly with a special guest, Frankie Adams who is a wonderful New Zealand actor.  She talked about how important reading is to her job and how much she loves to read.

We have a new whiteboard table in Room 5 that we can write on and we have been using it well at maths and writing time.  It is great to record our thinking and to work out number problems or sound out words.  Here are a few pictures of Room 5 using the new white board table!


In this picture we are learning to write the number facts to make 10.

In this picture we were writing stories. When we got stuck on a tricky word we could sound it out and write it on the table with some help from Ms Mitchell.

PMP in the hall

Today we had PMP in the hall and it was fantastic. We got to skip, jump, climb and balance.

Get, Set, Go!

Today Room 5 had our first session of Get, Set, Go! We meet Coach Dean. He let us pick from spiky balls, hula hoops, scarves and bean bags.

We had a fantastic time playing games.  Here are a few photos of us running, skipping and hopping.

Buddy Reading

On Fridays we have buddy reading in our class. This is an exciting time because children get to read their books to each other. Then we read and colour our poem of the week.

This weeks poem was Scarecrow, Scarecrow.

We also wrote stories about what we could see in the poem. Here are a few stories to read.

We really enjoyed reading our books to our buddies!
