- We read spider books
- Read a poem about spiders
- Watched spider videos
- Wrote stories about spiders
- Created our own spiders
- Sang a song about spiders
- Made spider webs
This is our big book of the week and it had great spider pictures!
This is one of the spider pictures we made for Art. We drew the web and then dyed it, then we cut out the spider body and legs and glued them onto the web. We know that spiders make webs with their spinnerets.
This is a close-up video of a spider spinning his web that we watched from You tube. It shows how the spider makes a web.
We had fun making our hanging spiders. We coloured in the spider body with crayons and then we stuck the pipe cleaner legs into the body. We know that spiders have eight legs!
We have been learning to label a picture of a spider.
We know that Spiders are Arachnids. Spiders belong to a group of animals called “arachnids”.
We learnt why spiders don't stick to their own webs. They don't stick to their webs because they have a special oil on their feet.
This is the activity that we did "The Sticky Web"
We imagined that we were an insect and felt what that was like to get stuck in a web and moved our fingers along the sticky tape. After that, we dipped our fingers into some oil and imagined we were spiders and we didn't stick to the sticky web.
We all came up with I wonder questions about spiders.
